The Conway Stewart Marlborough Kingsman Replica

A exact replica of the black lever-fill fountain pen that Conway Stewart made for the film "Kingsman: The Secret Service" that killed Michael Caine’s character, Arthur.

In the film, Michael Caine pulls the lever on the pen to activate a lethal poison he has put into a glass of whisky that he thinks Eggsy has drunk, but the nimble fingered hero has switched the drinks and it is Arthur who dies. Eggsy then uses the 18ct gold nib of the fountain pen to dig out of Michael Caine's neck the microchip that is controlling people's minds.

The actual pen used in the movie is now in the personal pen collection of Conway Stewart's Managing Director and we joke that you can still see Michael Caine's blood on the nib!

Background story of this special pen

Conway Stewart made over 20 Secret Agent pens for the the first Kingsman Film based on the Winston Classic Back Gold Lever Fill which are seen near the beginning of the film in the Secret Agents gadget room at the Savile Row Taylors.  However after all 20 pens were delivered, a phone call from the film set was received asking for a special pen for Michael Caine's character, Arthur, and they needed it like yesterday!

So we designed a unique pen for the Head of Kingsman; the Secret Service, but we had no idea what a major role it would have in the film.  It is based on a Conway Stewart Marlborough Vintage Black Ebonite but the body and cap were machined with fines lines giving it a luxury look and feel. Naturally it had to be a lever-fill and fitted with an 18ct gold nib.

The Kingsman Replica

This Kingsman Replica is an exact copy of the pen we made for the film. The Marlborough is inspired by the classic styling of vintage Conway Stewart models of the 1920s, and is made from Ebonite; so called as it was created to look and feel like expensive Ebony wood. The vast majority of pens from 1905 to 1930's were made from Ebonite (also called Vulcanite). It is a hard rubber made using sulphur so it has a very distinctive smell. The design of the Marlborough with its straight cap and barrel, prominent solid gold barrel rings, and the serrated pattern around the top of the cap gives it a classical vintage look. 

The barrel has two wide 9ct gold bands stamped with English hallmarks, proving its quality and origin.

Limited Edition of 1919 pens worldwide - 1919 was the year the fictional Kingsman Secret Intelligence Agency was founded in the aftermath of World War I 

Each fountain pen is housed in an original Conway Stewart black leatherette presentation box which doubles as an elegant desk display, and comes complete with Certificate of Authenticity, Conway Stewart User Guide and a pen polishing cloth.
