Description

The Scribbler, in carbon fibre.

The barrel is machined from solid brass and nickel-plated and then sleeved with a tube of woven carbon fibre, which gives this pencil a modern, high tech look.

Polished fittings at either end house the clutch mechanism, which holds the ultra thick 5.6mm graphite leads. The end cap unscrews to reveal a lead sharpener.

The pencil is presented in a gift box.

The Pen That Signed a £2 Billion Contract

When National Grid came to sign the £2 billion Eastern Green Link 4 contract, they reached for a British made Conway Stewart pen designed for the occasion. Hand made in Emsworth, Hampshire, the barrel design replicates the actual cable sheath used on the Prysmian subsea cable. British infrastructure, signed with a British pen.

A WWII Navigator's Conway Stewart Pen Unearthed

In September 1943, two B‑17 Flying Fortresses collided over the Essex countryside, killing 20 young American airmen. Eighty‑one years later, local historian Sue Lister uncovered a Conway Stewart No. 236 fountain pen from the wreckage—a burgundy‑and‑black marble relic believed to have belonged to navigator 1st Lt Arthur Ross Moore. This pen, a symbol of wartime resilience and British craftsmanship, will soon be displayed at the RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre, preserving a story of bravery and fleeting wartime bonds.

Queen Camilla’s swift signature at Stationers’ Hall on 15 July 2025 links today’s monarchy to a guild that has tended the written word since 1403. The Stationers’ Company, once candle‑lit scribes beside St Paul’s, later policed printing under a Tudor charter and rebuilt after the Great Fire. Now, as the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, it trains new talent and preserves its rich archive, while fellow member Conway Stewart still crafts pens by hand—a living thread binding past and present.
