Only 5 pens available - all made from the original sterling silver parts from Master Gunsmith engraver Marcus Hunt
The Conway Stewart Sandringham was first launched back in 2011 and it features intricate hand engraving by Marcus Hunt, one of England's premier gunsmith engravers.
Here are the words from the original Conway Stewart press release;
Inspired by the ornate decoration gracing the creations of English gunsmiths, the Sandringham is hand engraved by Master gunsmith engraver Marcus Smith.
It takes many hours to meticulously hand engrave each Sandringham limited edition fountain pen. Particular attention to detail is made on the cap stopper, cap band, barrel end and the decorated band on the gripping section featuring the signature of Marcus Hunt and the individual limited edition number of each Sandringham pen.
The Sandringham is created from sterling silver and is based on the Duro model, Conway Stewart's award winning design triumph. Crafted from rods of solid sterling silver and complemented with a hand applied translucent classic green resin veneer, this Sterling Silver Duro is an unique celebration of colour, design and quality British craftsmanship.
Marcus Hunt is a second generation master engraver and is recognized as providing the highest standard of hand engraving on the worlds finest sporting shotguns and rifles for over 30 years. Marcus has many high-profile clients some of which include members of the British Royal family, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and even successful rock stars like Eric Clapton.
Marcus painstakingly learned the traditional engraving methods from world famous engraver Ken Hunt, when working at James Purdey & Son alongside the legendary engraver, Harry Kell.
James Purdey & Sons have built a reputation as makers of some of the finest firearms throughout the world since 1814 and supplying many of the world's most distinguished and discerning people including the British Royal Family. Marcus' father's inlays and engravings command a bespoke price more than $90,000 in addition to the Purdey's shotgun value.
Following his father's passion and gift for engraving, Marcus gradually mastered the act of carefully gliding the graver through steel by hand and the gentle rhythms of hammer and chisel work. He also learned many techniques that his father had developed over the years as well as gold inlay and damascene. Always though, his father would emphasize the importance of quality workmanship.
You can see how Marcus has used these skills on the Sandringham with gold inlaid into the cap band and barrel end that gives contrast to the blackened background with beautiful floral detailing in bright sterling silver. A real master piece, and probably one of the finest engraved fountain pens ever made using gunsmith engraving techniques.
Each pen has an 18ct gold CS 2-tone nib available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium or Broad.
Housed in a very special real green leather Conway Stewart presentation box, perfect for an elegant desk display. The package includes a Certificate of Authenticity, a Conway Stewart User Guide, and a special anti-tarnish polishing cloth to maintain your pen's pristine condition.
