A special 400th Anniversary celebration
William Shakespeare, The Bard of Avon, died 400 years ago, on April 23 1616 and there are many events planned, not only in the UK, but worldwide, to mark the anniversary. His extraordinary works remain hugely popular around the world and almost 3000 words and phrases he used in his plays and sonnets have become part of everyday speech.
So what finer tribute could we make to one of the world’s greatest writers, than a range of pens first created by Conway Stewart in 2009 and called The Bard?
The Bard is one of Conway Stewart’s most commanding models. Originally launched in 2009, it is imposing in size and has a striking squared-off profile which sets it apart from other writing instruments. Its distinctive clip marks it as part of the proud Conway Stewart heritage. The Conway Stewart Bard Woodgrain is one of only 3 colours remaining in the Bard range.
The Bard has been inspired by William Shakespeare, surely the most famous poet and writer of the past 400 years, who was known simply as ‘The Bard’ and whose enduring and much-loved works have enriched the cultural fabric of society since the late 16th century.
The Conway Stewart Bard Woodgrain features an untapered cap and barrel which give it a look of sturdy elegance. If you like writing with large pens, the Bard will surely become a firm favourite. While substantial in size, it is still a very usable pen thanks to the carefully thought-out design. The high-mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket and the rebated nib section design makes for a pen that is suitable for a wide range of hand sizes. The barrel end is also reduced in size, which makes posting the cap simple and secure.
